Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Linea is a Chrome extension for kinesthetic reading — revealing text one sentence at a time for people with dyslexia and ADHD. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data when you use it.

The short version

Linea does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of your personal data, browsing activity, or page content. Everything the extension does happens locally, inside your own browser. Offline. No account.

What Linea does on a page

When you turn Linea on for a page, it reads the visible text on that page in order to detect readable paragraphs and apply the reading overlay (blur, sentence reveal, fonts, spacing). This processing happens entirely in your browser's memory. Page content is never sent to Linea's developer, to any analytics service, or to any third party. Nothing is logged externally, and nothing is retained after you close or reload the page.

What Linea stores locally

Linea saves your preferences — such as font, letter spacing, text size, theme, and reading progress — using Chrome's built-in local storage API (chrome.storage). This data stays on your device, is never synced to a server, and is only used to restore your settings the next time you use the extension. Uninstalling Linea removes this data.

What Linea does not do

  • It does not collect personally identifiable information.
  • It does not track your browsing or web history.
  • It does not use analytics, trackers, or advertising SDKs.
  • It does not send page content, keystrokes, or activity to any server.
  • It does not require an account, login, or sign-up.
  • It does not sell or share data with third parties, because none is collected.

Permissions

Linea requests only the storage and sidePanel permissions, used solely to save your preferences locally and to display the settings panel. Linea's content script runs on web pages so it can apply the reading overlay you activate — it does not read pages in the background or without your action.

Changes to this policy

If Linea's data practices ever change, this page will be updated to reflect that before the change ships in a new version.
